Elite Recruit Myles Baker Narrows Choices to Eight Top Programs
Four-star safety Myles Baker from Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon has narrowed his recruitment process to eight leading college football programs, with the Ole Miss Rebels among the finalists. Baker, who ranks in the top 25 prospects in California, has attracted attention from numerous elite schools across the United States, enhancing the competitiveness for his commitment.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 190 pounds, Baker has received scholarship offers from some of the most prestigious programs, including the LSU Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Michigan Wolverines, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas Longhorns. The Rebels entered the race this past summer, and since then, Baker has been actively evaluating his options.
Baker’s Final Eight Schools and Key Relationships
Baker’s list of contenders has crystallized to include Ole Miss, Michigan, Oregon, Alabama Crimson Tide, Arizona State Sun Devils, LSU, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. The Michigan Wolverines are generating significant interest from Baker, who recently referred to the university as his “dream school.” He expressed excitement about his visit to Michigan’s spring game, saying, “Michigan has been my dream school, but being able to go to the spring game and catch a vibe of how it is in the Big House… that was a special moment I had with my dad.”
Baker also commended Michigan for its strong academic programs and impressive player development, highlighting the importance of these factors in his decision-making.
Oregon Ducks and Their Strategic Pursuit
The Oregon Ducks are also emerging as a significant contender in Baker’s recruitment. Head Coach Dan Lanning has intensified efforts to secure Baker’s commitment. “Oregon has shown me the most love,” Baker stated, noting that he has visited the campus twice, more than any other school. He spoke positively about the relationships he has developed with Oregon’s coaching staff, including Coach Tosh Lupoi and Coach Rasad Wadood.
Baker’s recruitment continues to attract attention as he remains one of the most sought-after defensive backs in the country. With multiple programs vying for his talents, the next few months will be crucial in determining where Baker will continue his football career.
As the college football landscape evolves, Baker’s decision will not only impact his future but also significantly influence the programs competing for his commitment. The dynamic nature of this recruitment highlights the increasing competition among elite college football programs.
