JoJo Siwa was hospitalized on November 28, 2023, after experiencing severe pain from a burst ovarian cyst. The incident occurred just hours before Siwa was set to perform at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. In a TikTok update, the 22-year-old entertainer shared that she had been suffering from intense discomfort for several days but initially attributed it to menstrual cramps.

Leading up to the performance, Siwa attempted to manage the pain by resting and even tried to relax in her hotel bathtub. Unfortunately, this only intensified her condition. “That set it off 100 times worse,” Siwa recounted. Concerned by her worsening symptoms, she informed her mother, Jessalynn Siwa, and they decided to seek medical attention.

Emergency responders arrived but initially found no abnormalities, as her vital signs were normal. However, once evaluated at a local hospital, doctors identified the cause of her pain as a ruptured ovarian cyst, which was bleeding into her abdomen. “That’s what was causing the excruciating pain — anytime that the blood in your stomach moves, that’s the bleeding in the stomach,” she explained to her followers.

Fortunately, the medical team was able to address her condition swiftly, allowing Siwa to be discharged within two hours. She expressed gratitude towards the staff for their assistance, enabling her to continue with her scheduled performance of her new single, “Message to the World.” Siwa stated, “Today, we’re gonna go to work and we’re gonna dance again… if I vomit or if I have that excruciating pain burst again, I’ve got to go immediately back in, but we should be OK.”

Despite her determination, Siwa acknowledged that she was not yet feeling completely well and planned to have the cyst examined again soon. This health scare follows a significant milestone in her personal life, as Siwa recently made her red carpet debut with boyfriend Chris Hughes at the Dancers Against Cancer Gala on October 21, 2023. During the event, Hughes presented Siwa with the Humanitarian Award, recognizing her charitable efforts.

Siwa and Hughes began their relationship earlier this year while participating in Celebrity Big Brother U.K., where they transitioned from friends to romantic partners. Siwa expressed her affection in a June interview, stating, “It’s been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him.”

Fans remain supportive of Siwa as she navigates this challenging time, hoping for a swift recovery and continued success in her performances.
