Upper Darby firefighters took significant action this Thanksgiving by delivering over 40 food boxes to families in need. On November 25, 2023, members of the Upper Darby Fire Department gathered at the Cardington fire station to assemble and distribute meals, ensuring that many local families could enjoy a festive holiday dinner.
The initiative was spearheaded by retired Chief Ed Cubler, a lifelong resident of Upper Darby and dedicated fireman. For decades, Cubler has organized Thanksgiving food baskets, demonstrating a commitment to community service and support for those facing hardships during the holiday season.
Firefighters from the Upper Darby Fire Department, represented by IAFF Local 2493, collaborated with their families to prepare the meals. The food boxes contained complete meals, along with additional items, ensuring that families received the ingredients necessary for a traditional Thanksgiving celebration. This effort not only provided sustenance but also fostered a sense of community and togetherness during a time when many are in need.
The Upper Darby Fire Department’s initiative exemplifies the spirit of giving that characterizes the holiday season. By working together, the firefighters demonstrated their dedication to supporting their neighbors and reinforcing community bonds. As the holiday season continues, the impact of their actions will resonate within the Upper Darby community, reminding everyone of the importance of kindness and generosity.
