Local Resident Jim Cirulli Marks 100 Years of Life in Reading
A century of life was celebrated in Reading, Pennsylvania, as Jim Cirulli turned 100 years old on November 8, 2025. Friends and family gathered to honor the remarkable journey of a man who has witnessed significant changes over the decades.
Born in the front room of his childhood home at 254 Jefferson St., Jim grew up in a large family, the youngest of eight siblings. His parents, Belsario and Marie Antoinette (Ciccarne) Cirulli, instilled in him values that shaped his life. Although he left school after the ninth grade to pursue a trade, Jim’s dedication to hard work and craftsmanship became evident throughout his career.
A Lifelong Journey of Work and Family
Jim’s professional life began in the military, where he served as a cook and was stationed in the Philippines. After his service, he returned to Reading, where he initially learned shoe repair alongside his brother, Samuel, in Shillington. This skill led him to open his own shoe repair shop in Laureldale, which he operated for 18 years.
Eventually, Jim ventured into a new business, establishing T&C Knife Rentals, which he managed for an impressive 40 years. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit have left a lasting impact on the community.
Family has always been central to Jim’s life. He was married to Catherine Cirulli, a local manicurist, for 47 years until her passing at the age of 94. Jim cherishes their time together, stating, “I would change anything in myself to keep that beautiful woman.” Together, they raised three children: Frank, Marie, and Jack (all deceased), along with their surviving son, Sam, and stepdaughter, Rene.
Celebrating a Century of Memories
Jim is a proud grandfather to several grandchildren, including Elizabeth, Ralph, John, and Samantha, as well as great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His family often gathers to celebrate milestones, sharing stories and memories that reflect the rich tapestry of their lives together.
Among his hobbies, Jim enjoys gardening, woodworking, and repairing his home, activities that keep him active and engaged. Reflecting on his life, Jim cites marrying his wife as one of his happiest moments, a sentiment that resonates deeply with his family and friends.
As Jim Cirulli reaches this significant milestone, his story is a testament to resilience, dedication, and the importance of family. His legacy continues through his children and grandchildren, who celebrate not just a birthday but a lifetime of experiences and cherished memories.
