Ambriola Issues Cheese Recall in Two US States Over Listeria Risk
The Ambriola Company has initiated a recall of certain cheese products sold under the Boar’s Head label due to a potential contamination risk with Listeria monocytogenes. This announcement, made on November 24, 2023, was published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and involves products distributed in Texas and other states.
The recalled items include Boar’s Head Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese (item code 858) and FS Grated Romano Cheese (item code 15119). The affected products have “Sell By” dates ranging from November 21, 2025, to March 12, 2026. This recall falls under Class I, indicating a high risk due to potential adulteration with harmful bacteria.
Assisting with the recall is Supreme Service Solutions LLC, which operates as Supreme Deli. Consumers who have purchased these cheese products are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, particularly in vulnerable populations, including the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. In severe cases, it can lead to more serious health complications, including meningitis.
The FDA has urged consumers to check their refrigerators for these specific cheese products. If found, they should not be consumed. The safety of consumers is the top priority for both Ambriola and the FDA, which is monitoring the situation closely.
This incident underscores the importance of food safety and the need for rigorous inspection and recall processes to protect public health. Both Ambriola and Supreme Service Solutions are taking necessary measures to ensure that the products are removed from shelves and that consumers are informed.
For further updates, consumers are encouraged to visit the FDA’s website where additional information regarding the recall and safety measures is provided.
