Two young leaders from Fulda, Minnesota, have been recognized for their exceptional contributions to the Young Marines program. Brooklynn Tyrrell and Marlee Mitchell have been named the 2025 Midwest Regiment Senior Young Marine of the Year and Junior Young Marine of the Year, respectively. This prestigious acknowledgment highlights their commitment and service since they joined the Buffalo Ridge Young Marines on January 3, 2020.

Dedication and Leadership Recognized

The announcement was made by Daniel Harrington, the Unit Commander of the Buffalo Ridge Young Marines, who commended both young women for their dedication and leadership skills. Harrington stated, “These two Young Marines have spent the past six years growing, challenging themselves, and showing what it truly means to lead with integrity.” He added that their selection is not only well-deserved but also reflects the strong values they contribute to the program and the local community.

The Young Marine of the Year program aims to honor outstanding youths who exemplify leadership, character, academic achievement, community service, and a steadfast commitment to the core values of the Young Marines. These values include discipline, teamwork, leadership, and the promotion of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Impact on the Community

Both Tyrrell and Mitchell have actively participated in various community service initiatives through their unit. Their involvement not only enhances their personal growth but also fosters a sense of teamwork and responsibility among their peers. The recognition serves as an encouragement for other young individuals in the program to strive for excellence.
