5 Seconds of Summer’s ‘Everyone’s a Star’ Reaches No. 1 in the U.K.
5 Seconds of Summer has achieved a significant milestone by reaching the No. 1 spot on the U.K. Albums Chart with their latest release, EVERYONE’S A STAR. This marks the fourth time the Australian band has topped the chart, as confirmed by the latest rankings dated November 21, 2023. The album’s success comes at the expense of Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, which has now dropped to second place.
The group, comprised of Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings, and Michael Clifford, previously reached the top spot with their albums Sounds Good Feels Good in 2015, CALM in 2020, and 5SOS5 in 2022. In addition to its chart-topping position in the U.K., EVERYONE’S A STAR also claims the No. 1 position on the Official Record Store Chart, which tracks sales from independent record shops across the country.
Record-Breaking Success in Australia
In their home country of Australia, 5 Seconds of Summer made history by becoming the first act to debut at No. 1 with all six of their studio albums on the ARIA Charts. This achievement underscores the band’s significant impact on the music scene, both locally and internationally.
Olivia Dean follows closely behind at No. 2 with her album The Art of Loving, which has gained attention following her recent performances on Saturday Night Live on November 15. The emotional tracks “Man I Need” and “So Easy (to Fall in Love With Me)” showcased her talent and contributed to her rising popularity.
Taylor Swift, who previously held the top spot for four non-consecutive weeks, now finds her album The Life of a Showgirl at No. 3. The album continues to resonate with fans, solidifying Swift’s position as a leading figure in the music industry.
Emerging Artists and Notable Debuts
U.K. rap duo D-Block Europe has secured their fifth top five album in six years with PTSD 2, landing at No. 4. The duo, consisting of Young Adz and Dirtbike LB, has enjoyed a string of successes with previous albums, including PTSD in 2019 and Rolling Stone, which reached No. 1 in 2024.
Completing the top five is Sabrina Carpenter with her album Man’s Best Friend, which sits at No. 5. Other notable entries in the chart include a reissue of Oasis’s live LP Familiar To Millions at No. 11, Celeste’s sophomore album Woman Of Faces at No. 12, and Summer Walker with Finally Over It at No. 13.
Additionally, buzz is growing around Liverpool rapper EsDeeKid, whose album Rebel has climbed to No. 16. Fan theories jokingly suggest that the artist may be a pseudonym for actor Timothée Chalamet, adding an intriguing layer to the artist’s identity.
As 5 Seconds of Summer continues to shine on various charts, their latest success not only highlights their enduring popularity but also reflects the dynamic landscape of the current music industry.
