Joint Base Langley-Eustis Wins DAF Esports World Championship
The Department of the Air Force (DAF) Esports program concluded an exhilarating Regionals season with Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) emerging as the champion of the DAF Esports World Championship in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This victory was secured after a remarkable performance throughout the tournament, culminating in a final match against Cannon Air Force Base, which JBLE won decisively. Buckley Space Force Base claimed third place in the competition.
“This year’s Regionals showcased the best of base-versus-base competition—skill, teamwork, and resiliency,” stated TSgt Jessica Crawford, Manager of DAF Esports. She emphasized that participants from across the globe, including the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE), and continental United States (CONUS), displayed outstanding performances, all supported by partners at USAA.
Structure of the DAF Esports Regionals
The DAF Esports Regionals serve as the primary tournament framework for inter-base competition within the force. This year’s featured title was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, drawing in top teams from various regions. The top three teams from the PACAF Championship, the USAFE Championship, and the top six teams from the CONUS Championship secured spots in the World Championship.
The PACAF Championship took place from March 8 to March 15, 2025, at Yokota Air Base in Japan, where Misawa Air Base took the title, followed by Andersen Air Force Base and Hickam Air Force Base, both of which also qualified for the World Championship.
In Europe, the USAFE Championship was conducted online, allowing representatives from Ramstein Air Base, Spangdahlem Air Base, and RAF Lakenheath to secure their positions for the World Championship. Notably, logistical issues led to Spangdahlem AB and RAF Lakenheath being replaced by Buckley Space Force Base and Kadena Air Base prior to the World Championship.
The CONUS Championship, held from June 8 to June 15 at Patrick Space Force Base in Florida, featured 12 teams competing for a place in the finals. Cannon Air Force Base emerged victorious in this championship, followed by Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Nellis Air Force Base, Eglin Air Force Base, Peterson Space Force Base, and Offutt Air Force Base.
World Championship Highlights
The DAF Esports World Championship took place from August 3 to August 10, 2025, at Patrick Space Force Base, where 12 teams entered a group stage designed for seeding into the finals bracket. After five days of intense competition, Joint Base Langley-Eustis was crowned World Champions, with Cannon Air Force Base as the runner-up and Buckley Space Force Base finishing in third place.
The championship featured a single-elimination format, further intensifying the competition among the participating teams. The final pool of teams included representatives from Misawa Air Base, Andersen Air Force Base, Hickam Air Force Base, Ramstein Air Base, and the aforementioned bases that replaced those unable to attend.
DAF Esports acknowledges the significant contributions of USAA, whose support throughout the 2025 Regionals and World Championship season was crucial in facilitating competitive opportunities aimed at enhancing teamwork and community within the force.
The Air Force Gaming program aims to unite Airmen and Guardians through competitive gaming, fostering resilience and camaraderie across the Department of the Air Force. With a focus on morale, welfare, and recreation benefits, the program connects military members globally through base-versus-base leagues and championship events.
