Kenny Wayne Shepherd Earns Sixth Grammy Nomination for Blues Album
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the celebrated blues artist from Shreveport, has received his sixth Grammy nomination for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. His nomination is in the category of Best Traditional Blues Album for his latest work, “Young Fashioned Ways.” The awards ceremony is set to take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Shepherd’s journey in the music industry began at a young age. He released his debut album, “Ledbetter Heights,” in September 1995, when he was just 18 years old. The album is named after the Shreveport neighborhood that was home to one of his musical inspirations, Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter. Over the years, Shepherd has solidified his place in the blues genre, earning several accolades along the way.
Throughout his career, Shepherd has amassed six Grammy nominations, with his first nomination occurring in 1999. He has also achieved multiple gold and platinum albums, enhancing his reputation in the music industry. In addition to his Grammy nods, Shepherd has received two Billboard Music Awards and two Blues Music Awards.
As an artist, Shepherd has shared the stage with iconic musicians such as Bob Dylan, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. These collaborations have not only enriched his musical style but have also broadened his audience.
Upcoming Tour Celebrates Milestone
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of “Ledbetter Heights,” Shepherd will launch the “Ledbetter Heights 30th Anniversary Tour” in February 2026. This tour will feature performances of the album in its entirety, allowing fans to experience the music that launched his career. The Shreveport-Bossier performance is scheduled for June 2026, marking a homecoming for the artist.
Shepherd is not the only Shreveport native to be recognized this year. He is joined by fellow nominees Addison Rae and Dez Duron, highlighting the city’s significant contributions to the music industry.
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network, with streaming options available on Paramount+. Fans around the world will be able to witness Shepherd’s continued success as he competes for this prestigious award.
