Edmond Kicks Off Holiday Celebrations with Miracle on 2nd Street
Edmond has officially launched its annual holiday festivities with the start of the **Miracle on 2nd Street** celebrations. This year’s events pay homage to the historic **Route 66**, which runs along 2nd Street, coinciding with the centennial of the roadway in **2024**.
Jennifer Thornton, the **Tourism Director** for **Visit Edmond**, highlighted the spirit of the celebrations, stating, “Miracle on 2nd Street is all about creating memories with people you cherish.” The festivities kicked off with the opening of the **Edmond Ice Rink** at **Mitch Park**, marking the beginning of a month filled with holiday cheer.
Festivities and Events Throughout the Season
The **Deck the Downtown Tree Lighting** event is scheduled for **November 13**, featuring Santa Claus, live reindeer, and festive caroling. This event will set the tone for a variety of exciting activities planned throughout the season.
Additional highlights include **Luminance: An Enchanted Stroll** at Mitch Park, the **Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Walk** on Thanksgiving morning, and **Small Business Saturday** shopping events. Families will also have the opportunity to enjoy free **Horse-drawn Carriage Rides** on select dates in December.
Children and families are invited to visit Santa at **Citizens Bank** downtown and explore the **Indoor Farmers Market**. Local businesses are joining in the festive spirit, with candle maker **Thomas Blonde** offering a special ‘miracle candle’ available at **Silver Leaf Gems** and **Frenzy Brewing**.
