George Clooney Praises Zendaya and Glen Powell’s Talents
George Clooney recently highlighted two younger actors he believes have significant potential in the entertainment industry: Zendaya and Glen Powell. Clooney, who is 64 years old, shared his insights during an appearance on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. This marked his return to the show six years after his last visit, where he discussed his latest Netflix film, Jay Kelly, alongside various other topics.
When the conversation turned to emerging talents, Clooney expressed admiration for both actors. He noted that Zendaya has a remarkable versatility, stating, “I think Zendaya can do television, she can do commercials, she can do movies; she seems to have that ability to rise above it.” This comment reflects the widespread recognition of Zendaya’s skills, which have been showcased in diverse projects ranging from television series to major film franchises.
Clooney also praised Glen Powell, who is gaining attention as a rising star. He remarked, “I think Glen Powell is doing interesting stuff as a young actor; he’s kind of hitting around the time I hit, and he seems to want to direct and produce and write and do all of those things with a little bit of humor about himself.” This emphasis on Powell’s multifaceted aspirations highlights the qualities that Clooney values in young talent—creativity and a sense of humor.
Jay Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach, features Clooney in a leading role alongside Adam Sandler. The film is a coming-of-age dramedy that has already generated buzz ahead of its release. It is set to premiere in select theaters on November 14, 2023, before making its debut on Netflix on December 5, 2023.
Clooney’s endorsement of these young actors adds to the ongoing conversation about the evolution of talent in Hollywood, as established stars recognize the promise of the next generation. With their growing influence, both Zendaya and Powell are poised to make significant impacts in the industry, furthering their careers under the guidance of established figures like Clooney.
As the entertainment landscape continues to shift, the recognition from seasoned actors can serve as a vital boost for younger stars. Clooney’s comments reflect a broader trend of mentorship and support among actors, fostering an environment where new talent can thrive.
