Driver Dies Following Collision in DeKalb County Crash

A tragic accident in DeKalb County resulted in the death of a driver on the morning of September 30, 2023. According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Somonauk Road, south of Chicago Road in Somonauk Township.

Two vehicles were traveling southbound on Somonauk Road when the incident took place. The sheriff’s office reported that one of the drivers experienced a significant medical emergency, which led to his vehicle colliding with another car. Following the impact, the driver who suffered the emergency lost control of his vehicle, veering into a ditch on the east side of the roadway and spinning around.

Emergency responders from the Somonauk Fire Department arrived at the scene and transported the affected driver to Northwestern Valley West Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. The other driver involved in the collision did not sustain any injuries.
