Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Finale Reveals Killer and Sets Up Darker Plot
The dramatic conclusion of Only Murders in the Building Season 5 revealed the identity of Lester Coluca’s killer while hinting at a more sinister plot for the upcoming season. The beloved Hulu comedy-drama wrapped up the mystery surrounding the murder of the Arconia’s doorman, setting the stage for further intrigue.
Unraveling the Mystery
In the finale, detectives Mabel, Charles, and Oliver delve into the depths of the Arconia’s secret underground casino to uncover the truth behind Lester’s murder. Their investigative efforts expose a conspiracy involving a group of billionaires planning to demolish the building while covering up evidence, including a severed finger.
The trio manages to secure a confession that could blow the case wide open. As Mayor Beau Tillman attempts to trap them in a room set for demolition, Howard and pop star Althea create a diversion, allowing the detectives to escape and broadcast the shocking revelation live. With the Arconia saved and justice served, the detectives celebrate another victory, though their peace is short-lived.
The narrative takes a leap forward three months later, showcasing new beginnings for the characters. Sofia finds refuge in Positano, while Cinda Canning ventures into a new true-crime podcast set in the UK, focusing on a red-haired woman accused of murdering a royal heir. The tension escalates when the accused woman is discovered dead outside the Arconia, and it is revealed that Cinda herself is the victim.
Who Killed Lester Coluca?
The finale connects Lester’s murder to events throughout the season, revealing a tangled web of deception. Mayor Beau Tillman, who had secretly been involved with Sofia, had orchestrated deals benefiting a trio of billionaires. The situation escalated when Nicky Caccimelio, while attempting to expose the affair, is accidentally killed by Lester. To silence him, Beau tracks Lester down and kills him, ensuring that the truth remains hidden.
The culmination of the detectives’ sleuthing leads not only to the exposure of a corrupt police force but also to the arrest of Mayor Tillman. The season closes with unresolved tensions, setting the stage for an even darker storyline in Season 6.
With its blend of humor, mystery, and suspense, Only Murders in the Building continues to engage audiences, leaving them eager for the next chapter in the lives of their favorite amateur sleuths.
