War Lord Aims for Consecutive Wins at Plumpton on Monday

A full day of racing is scheduled for Monday, March 25, 2024, featuring events from Bath, Wolverhampton, Plumpton, and Deauville, all broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing. The highlight of the day is the Sir Christopher Wates Memorial Handicap Chase at Plumpton, where War Lord seeks to secure back-to-back victories following a win at Fontwell just 28 days ago.
Plumpton Highlights: War Lord and Alien Storm Face Off
In the 3:40 PM race at Plumpton, War Lord, trained by Joe Tizzard, aims to overcome a 10-pound weight increase since his last triumph. The 10-year-old horse has previously won at Plumpton and will be challenged by Alien Storm, who recently returned from a 155-day break to finish second at Fontwell. Alien Storm boasts an impressive track record, having won three out of seven races at Plumpton.
Another strong contender is Hecouldbetheone, ridden by in-form jockey Sam Twiston-Davies. This horse has consistently placed in the top three, with only one finish outside that range in his seven starts this year. Juggernaut has shown promise with recent form of 3, 2, 2 and will be piloted by Rex Dingle, who last rode him to victory. Rounding out the five-horse field is The Gypsy Davey, trained by Evan Williams.
More Racing Action: Masterdream and Wolverhampton’s High Approval
The 4:42 PM race features Masterdream, a dual-purpose gelding trained by Neil Mulholland, who is aiming for a fourth straight victory over fences in the Nick and Valda Embiricos Memorial Novices’ Handicap Chase. After competing in both flat and jumping events this year, Masterdream will increase his race distance beyond three miles, having only recently run just over two miles at Bath.
Also competing is Tropical Speed, who will be making his second appearance for his new stable after finishing second at Newton Abbot. He returns to a winning mark of 99, slightly dropping back in distance. Another entry is Ken Roy, a six-year-old from Paul Nicholls, who will be racing for the first time since undergoing wind surgery. Completing the field is Blackacre, also trained by Evan Williams.
In Wolverhampton, the spotlight will be on High Approval, a €400,000 breeze-up purchase, as he seeks his first win after four attempts. This will be his debut on the all-weather track following two disappointing performances and a recent gelding. Another noteworthy contender is Return Of The Gods, a £350,000 yearling, looking to improve upon a third-place debut at the same course and distance.
As the racing day unfolds, additional events at Deauville and Bath promise further excitement, featuring notable horses like Kimi Rey and Mythical Bay.
With a packed schedule and numerous competitive fields, racing enthusiasts can look forward to an engaging day of equestrian sport across these venues.
