Community Mourns Loss of Barbara Ann Ott, Philanthropist and Friend

Barbara Ann Ott, aged 88, passed away on September 24, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends. Known for her warmth and generosity, Barbara was a cherished member of the Manhattan Beach community, where she lived for over 65 years.

Born on June 9, 1937, Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Barron “Barry” Craig Ott. Together, they shared a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She is predeceased by her sons, David Barron and Christopher Vosnick. Barbara is survived by her devoted son, Craig Brian Ott, his wife, Kristin Noel Ott, and her beloved grandson, Kyler Craig Ott. Additionally, she is survived by David’s widow, Molly Ott, along with nieces and cousins who held a special place in her heart.

Deep Community Roots

Barbara and Barry first met in San Francisco, California, before settling in Manhattan Beach. Her passion for her community was evident through her active participation in various organizations. Barbara was a dedicated member of Sandpipers, a philanthropic group committed to making a difference, and she volunteered at the Bishop Montgomery High School auction, eager to support causes she valued.

Faith played a significant role in Barbara’s life. She was a devoted parishioner of American Martyrs Church, where she attended mass regularly and formed lifelong friendships. Her commitment to her faith was a guiding force, providing her with strength and community throughout her life.

Traveling was another passion of Barbara’s, with Maui, Hawaii, holding a special place in her heart. She often shared this beautiful location with family and friends, creating cherished memories. Known for her hospitality, Barbara loved hosting gatherings at her home, where good food and laughter were abundant. Her enthusiasm for University of Oregon Ducks football games also brought friends and family together, further reflecting her vibrant spirit.

A funeral service will take place at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach on November 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The community will gather to celebrate Barbara’s life and honor her memory, ensuring that her spirit continues to inspire those she touched.
