Bentley Launches Powerful 782-HP Hybrid Continental GT Speed in South Korea
Bentley has unveiled its fourth-generation Continental GT Speed in South Korea, marking a significant milestone with the introduction of the luxury automaker’s most powerful hybrid vehicle to date. The new model features a robust 782 horsepower generated by an innovative Ultra Performance Hybrid system, seamlessly integrating traditional craftsmanship with advanced performance technology.
On a recent 350-kilometer test drive from Seoul to Yangyang, the hybrid system demonstrated its ability to switch effortlessly between electric and combustion power. In urban settings, the electric motor provided a quiet and refined driving experience, achieving a remarkable range of over 70 kilometers on electric power alone—exceeding the certified range of 64 kilometers for this model in Korea. Once the vehicle transitioned to highway conditions, the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine activated, showcasing exceptional acceleration and stability.
The Continental GT Speed accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed reaching 335 kilometers per hour. This performance is backed by Bentley’s commitment to high-performance electrification in the luxury market.
Design Innovations and Luxury Features
Visually, the new GT Speed represents a notable evolution in Bentley’s design ethos. For the first time since 1959, the automaker has replaced its iconic dual circular headlights with a more contemporary elongated single-lens design, enhancing the vehicle’s modern and aggressive appearance. Despite these sporty design elements, the car retains the elegant proportions characteristic of a grand tourer.
Inside, the craftsmanship reflects Bentley’s legacy of luxury. The British-built interior features a rotating center display that allows drivers to choose between a 12.3-inch digital screen, an analog clock, or a wood veneer panel. The cabin is adorned with hand-stitched leather, intricate quilting, and polished metal trim, all contributing to a sophisticated atmosphere. However, prospective buyers should note that rear-seat space remains limited.
The starting price for the new Continental GT Speed is 346.1 million won in Korea, while the convertible GTC Speed begins at 380.2 million won. Deliveries commenced in May 2023, reinforcing Bentley’s dedication to blending high-performance with electrification in the luxury segment.
As Bentley continues to push the boundaries of automotive engineering, the Continental GT Speed stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and luxury, appealing to discerning drivers seeking both performance and elegance in their vehicles.
