The Seattle Kraken secured a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on October 11, 2025, with Jared McCann scoring just 3.8 seconds before the final buzzer. The game, held at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, showcased a dramatic finish that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
In the second period, Matty Beniers opened the scoring for the Kraken, placing them ahead 1-0. Beniers fired a shot from the left circle that rebounded off the pads of Golden Knights goalie Adin Hill. McCann, who was positioned perfectly at the crease, seized the opportunity and sent the rebound past Hill. This goal not only marked McCann’s second of the season but also celebrated his 400th career point.
The Golden Knights fought back, tying the game 1-1 in the third period. Pavel Dorofeyev, who is currently leading the league with five goals this season, netted his fourth power-play goal at 4:11. Dorofeyev’s shot from the left circle came off a precise pass from Mark Stone, demonstrating the Knights’ persistence in the face of adversity.
Both teams displayed strong defensive plays, with Kraken goalie Joey Daccord making 26 saves, including four crucial stops during overtime. Daccord’s performance has been impressive, totaling 61 saves across his first two games of the season. Hill also kept his team in contention with 20 saves throughout the match.
This match continued a trend for the Golden Knights, who have seen each of their first three games extend beyond regulation. The team previously fell to the Los Angeles Kings in a shootout, losing 6-5, before bouncing back to defeat the San Jose Sharks 4-3 in their last outing. The Kraken’s win against a competitive opponent like the Knights further emphasizes their growing prowess in the league.
As the season progresses, both teams will look to build on their performances. The Kraken will aim to harness this momentum while the Golden Knights seek a more consistent approach to secure victories in upcoming matches.
